{"id":9654,"date":"2025-02-17T14:42:53","date_gmt":"2025-02-17T14:42:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/artscouncilmalta.gov.mt\/?p=9654"},"modified":"2025-08-29T03:18:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T01:18:14","slug":"open-call-for-a-curatorial-team-for-maltas-national-representation-at-the-venice-biennale-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artscouncil.abcnow.xyz\/en\/open-call-for-a-curatorial-team-for-maltas-national-representation-at-the-venice-biennale-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Open Call for a curatorial team for Malta\u2019s national representation at the Venice Biennale 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arts Council Malta, under the auspices of the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, for the 4<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;time running, has been entrusted to act as the Commissioner and the Contracting Authority of the Malta Pavilion at the 60<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;&nbsp;International Art Exhibition \u2013 La Biennale di Venezia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Malta Pavilion is approximately 285 square metres with exposed brick walls. It is located at the Artiglierie in the Arsenale Area and it is the same location which hosted the Malta Pavilion during the 57<sup>th<\/sup>, 58<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;and 59<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;International Art Exhibitions at the Venice Biennale. The Curatorial Teams representing Malta at the 2017, 2019 and 2022 editions attracted considerable attention by the international press, with outstanding reviews. These included coverage in prestigious titles such as \u201cThe Observer\u201d, which listed it as one of the five best pavilions, and \u201cThe Culture Trip\u201d which also listed it as one of \u201cThe 10 National Pavilions You Can\u2019t Miss at the Venice Biennale\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Curatorial Team Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The call is open to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Curatorial Teams with a strong international curatorial track record<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multi-national Curatorial Teams that include Maltese individuals in the team as well as Maltese artists will be favourably considered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. Arts Council Malta believes that the arts can lead the way and have a constructive dialogue on sustainable development.
