Among the productions featured were Mario Philip Azzopardi\u2019s L-Ispettur Bonnici and \u0126abbilni \u0127a Nirba\u0127: a Valletta 2018\/Arts Council Malta production; Lino Farrugia\u2019s Deheb il-Karta, a docu-drama based on historical archival material; and a Gozitan counterpart of this concept; George Mizzi\u2019s Grajjiet Gaudos. The experts discussed their work within the context of the local scene, the challenges faced, and the Council\u2019s support throughout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/artscouncilmaltagovmt.skipdns.link\/img\/uploads\/content\/1643277790.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minister Herrera, who intervened during the event, applauded the Council\u2019s consistent support through various funding opportunities and schemes. Looking to the future, he commented on the wealth of success stories already produced, and pressed on the need to build upon this solid foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Council\u2019s Chairperson, Albert Marshall, spoke on the Council\u2019s developing relationship with the Malta Film Commission, and the opportunities the collaboration would present to professionals in the sector. He also commented on the crucial role of the Council in the expansion and diversification of Malta\u2019s TV and film industry, in a growingly competitive market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/artscouncilmaltagovmt.skipdns.link\/img\/uploads\/content\/1643277819.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Film Commissioner Johann Grech echoed Marshall\u2019s sentiment, and stated the Commission\u2019s commitment to supporting creatives striving to strengthen Malta\u2019s home grown industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The debate was followed by a unique dinner inspired by the tales of Lino Farrugia\u2019s Deheb il Karta, one of the productions proudly supported by the Arts Council. Pietro Stellini, a recently wedded corsair, left Malta\u2019s shores towards the Barbary waters in 1792, all the while sending letters home to his family.
