Artists Martina Georgina and Nina Gerada to embark on new creative journeys at the Malta Society of Arts.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arts Council Malta (ACM), in collaboration with the Malta Society of Arts (MSA), is pleased to announce the selected participants for the second edition of Variations on Emergence, the MSA x ACM Residency Programme, following an open call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selected artists are Martina Georgina, a multidisciplinary performing artist, and Nina Gerada, a visual artist specialising in sculpture. Both will benefit from dedicated studio space at Palazzo de La Salle, a materials budget, and a stipend. The residency offers a unique platform for these artists to deepen their practice, explore new directions, and develop professional skills. Supported by the MSA, they will also engage with the spaces and history of the Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martina Georgina\u2019s practice synthesises different mediums \u2013 including movement, text, voice, sculpture and video \u2013 to create performance works that centre identity discourse as a social phenomenon. Her focus often draws from the female experience, interweaving real-time selfhood with fictional narratives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nina Gerada is a sculptor whose work with clay is inspired by archaeology, geology, and the passage of time. Her sculptures often feature surfaces that are intentionally cracked, evoking weathered rock and ageing skin, and explore themes of community, place, memory, and embodiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with MSA\u2019s long-standing mission to support artists in their pursuit of excellence, and in collaboration with ACM\u2019s strategic goal to foster artistic innovation, the MSA x ACM Residency Programme invites artists to take inspiration from the MSA\u2019s legacy, archives, and diverse programming. Participants will also benefit from an enriching schedule of mentorship meetings, multidisciplinary activities, and professional development opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis second edition of the residency programme reinforces Arts Council Malta\u2019s commitment to supporting artists as they develop their creative paths, in line with the aims of Strategy 2025,\u201d says MaryAnn Cauchi, COO Funding and Strategy at Arts Council Malta. \u201cBy offering the necessary resources and mentorship, we aim to empower Maltese artists to thrive both locally and internationally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the open call, the rigorous selection process sought to identify artists with distinctive voices and strong potential for growth. Through this residency, the selected practitioners will not only create new work but will also engage with audiences through exhibitions, performances, and public events, further enhancing access and participation in Malta\u2019s cultural life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
