class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Arts Council Malta (ACM) has announced its Action Plan for 2025 in an event that was attended by Council representatives, various entities, We also instigated several other initiatives that have further strengthened the entire sector, in line with our electoral promise to continue investing strongly in the arts and creativity.<\/p><p>\u201cWe launched a series of fiscal incentives for artists and the sector in general, such as a 7.5% tax rate for self-employed creatives and a 150% tax deduction for cultural donations. We facilitated young people\u2019s access to culture through initiatives such as the Culture Pass. The main focus was on organising festivals and national celebrations. The idea of governing the cultural sector with a strategic and comprehensive approach was still a concept waiting to take shape.<\/p><p>\u201cBy observing and learning from international practices, we embraced an outward-looking and bold approach, moving away from the insular and introspective tendencies of the past. We recognised the need for dedicated focus areas, so we created specialised directorates to address the diverse needs of the sector.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7f27cc1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7f27cc1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Commenting about milestone moments from this past decade, Marshall &#8211; singled out:<\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The creation of national performing arts\u00a0 companies\u2019 Kor Malta, Teatru Malta, \u017bfin Malta. The National Agency for the Performing Arts (NAPA) has been established to house these entities under one roof.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The establishing of Festivals Malta as an independent entity to focus exclusively on festivals.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Full support to artists and organisations during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Increased arts funding and a comprehensive CRM system to streamline operations.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The joining of global networks such as IFACCA and EUNIC, alongside participation in international events such as\u00a0 the Venice Biennale after an absence of 17 years and the London Design.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Concrete steps to safeguard Malta\u2019s artistic heritage by acquiring band clubs and supporting traditional feasts.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Introducing EU-funded regional strategies to guide cultural growth across Malta.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The launch of the Right to Culture pack to foster community engagement in the arts.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The launch of the Status of the Artist Charter.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The legal protection of artistic freedom.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Sectoral collaboration with various organisations to promote cultural partnerships.<\/li><li as supported by the Council itself.<\/p><p><b>Luke Dalli, Chief Operations Officer, stated: <\/b>\u201cThe decision to rebrand stems from the Council\u2019s recognition of the rapidly changing cultural and creative landscape, as well as the need to modernise its identity to align with contemporary values and strategic goals. This rebranding exercise reflects the Council\u2019s commitment to tackling industry challenges, championing cultural rights, and establishing itself as a forward-thinking leader in Malta&#8217;s creative community.\u201d<\/p><p>The exercise, he added, aligns seamlessly with the Council\u2019s strategic priorities and commitment to cultural rights, emphasising inclusivity, diversity, and the participation of all citizens in arts and culture, with the rebranding acts as a visual and conceptual representation of the mission to embed arts at the heart of Malta\u2019s future.<\/p><p>\u201cWith a refreshed identity, we aim to resonate with contemporary audiences and encourage broader participation in Malta\u2019s cultural and creative sectors. Highlights include:<\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The Arts Support Scheme &#8211; one of the most popular programmes &#8211; will see the introduction of a wellbeing objective for the thematic call.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The Access Support Scheme, previously a complementary measure for other funded projects, will now operate as a stand-alone call. It will be open to applicants aiming to carry out independent projects centred on accessibility.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The Screen Support Scheme will see significant growth with Strands 1-5 reissued in March, and increased funding. A new strand focusing on the internationalisation of local films will be introduced.
