Malta\u2019s Accession to Eurimages Announced <\/strong><\/p>

Maltese producers working on a feature film project as an international co-production can apply for support and book consultations with fund managers during the Berlin Film Festival.<\/strong><\/p>

Arts Council Malta has announced Malta\u2019s accession to Eurimages, the Council of Europe\u2019s cultural support fund for cinema, dedicated to strengthening European film through international co-production, distribution, and exhibition.<\/p>

The announcement represents a significant milestone for domestic film production, with Maltese and Malta-based filmmakers now eligible to apply for funding opportunities announced by Eurimages.<\/p>

Maltese producers who are working on a feature film project as an international co-production can also apply for co-production support, which takes the form of soft loans or subsidies (co-production support) or subsidies (promotion of co-production and exhibition). Soft loans are repaid on the basis of revenues generated by the projects supported. All projects submitted must have at least two co-producers from different member states of the Fund. Maltese producers are encouraged to consult the Co-production Support Regulations<\/a> available on the Eurimages website.<\/p>

Guidance on how to prepare applications is available on the Co-production Support page <\/a>and the How To Submit An Application<\/a> page. Further questions that are not addressed on the site may be forwarded to any of the project managers listed on the Team page<\/a> via email.\u00a0 Eurimages project managers will also be available for consultations during the Berlin Film Festival (Berlinare) taking place between February 12 and 22. Those attending will be required to call by the Eurimages stand in the Gropius Bau to fix an appointment.<\/p>

There are also five calls currently open for the 2027 – 2029 period. Three<\/strong> calls are related to the Promotion Programme and another two to the Strategy for Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion<\/a>.<\/p>

EURIMAGES supports fiction, animation and documentary feature films of a minimum length of 70 minutes. The Fund aims to encourage co-productions between our member states.
