  1. What is this about?

Arts Council Malta has launched a new Training Grants scheme to support the professional development of Malta’s Cultural and Creative Sectors (CCS). This Call for Applications is being issued under the ESF+.03.243 “Strengthening Malta’s Cultural and Creative Sectors through Lifelong Learning”, a project managed by Arts Council Malta. These Grants are co-financed by the European Social Fund+ 2021-2027.

The scheme provides funding for artists and cultural professionals to participate in:

  • Short courses
  • Masterclasses
  • Conferences
  • Workshops
  • Seminars
  • Networking opportunities

Training may take place abroad or online.

2. Who is it for?

The scheme targets:

  • Independent cultural and creative professionals (freelancers, self-employed practitioners)
  • Employees working within private-sector or non-government cultural organisations

This includes professionals working in areas such as:

  • Cultural production
  • Exhibition practices
  • Theatre, festivals and front-of-house services
  • Cultural heritage and historic buildings
  • Marketing for the cultural sector
  • Festivals and cultural events management
  • Cultural policy and strategy development
  • Performing arts
  •  Media arts
  • Literary arts
  • Visual arts
  • Crafts

3. What does the grant cover?

The grant may cover:

  • Participation / registration fees
  • Flights (for training abroad)
  • Per diem (subsistence) for training abroad

Maximum contribution: up to €2,000 per applicant

For online training, registration fees are covered.

4. Objectives of Scheme

This scheme aims to:

  • Support continuous professional development in the Cultural and Creative Sector
  • Strengthen international exposure and networking
  • Encourage innovation and upskilling
  • Build a more resilient and sustainable Cultural and Creative Sector

5. Key Dates

Deadline

This is a rolling Call. The deadline to apply is 30th November 2026. Late applications will not be accepted.
