Budget 2018: Increased investment in culture

The yearly analysis of the national budget conducted by Arts Council Malta reveals an overall increase of 10 per cent for culture, with a total budget of €70 million for cultural heritage, the arts, media and creative sectors

Another successful Notte Bianca

Yet another successful Notte Bianca has been accomplished with visitors flocking Valletta in the thousands for the largest festival in Malta to experience the quality entertainment provided. An estimate of more than 70,000 people visited the capital to attend 90 different events spanning all the arts sectors performed within the settings offered by the capital’s architectural heritage, across the four corners of the City.

Two summer festivals reach wider audience

Arts Council Malta is proud to report the success of two of its primary summer festivals held between the end of June and 22 July. Apart from the increase in the number of attendees, the Council is pleased to note the Malta International Arts Festival and the Malta Jazz Festival have continued to develop and reach a wider audience

Young Maltese cultural innovators participate in the Salzburg Global Forum

Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government Owen Bonnici had the opportunity to meet with the first two youths participating in the Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Innovators. This is a partnership agreement between Arts Council Malta and the Salzburg Global Forum, amounting to a total of 30,000 dollars.

Arts Council Malta and MCST sign MOU on the Creative Industries, Science and Technology

The Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) and Arts Council Malta (ACM) have signed an agreement in the area of the Arts and Science. In particular, the agreement, will encompass attempts to increase participation in culture and the creative industries, increase collaborations between Public Cultural Organisations and encourage interdsiciplinarity between the arts and Science.
