Nominations for this year’s Premju Għall-Arti will close on September 19 at noon, with only a few days left to nominate your favourite works through our online portal.
The Premju Għall-Arti, which reaches its seventh edition this year, represents Arts Council Malta’s celebration of the main achievements of our cultural and creative industries. Created with the goal of rewarding excellence within the sectors or arts and culture, it continues to pave the road for increased professionalism and distinction in the sector.
The award puts the spotlight right on some of the key protagonists that have made an impact with their power of artistic expression, presenting us with new perspectives and ideas in an ever-changing social and cultural context.
These are the categories under which you can nominate
Were you impressed by a particularly daring, original, innovative, and impeccably executed work? This is your chance to make sure it gets the recognition it deserves.
The Premju Għall-Arti this year includes a total of 18 categories under which you may nominate your favourite artistic work. Fourteen of these categories will undergo a competitive process before the winner is determined: These are:
- Best artistic programme or season 2023/2024
- Best artistic programme or season 2024/2025
- Award for national artistic excellence
- Best production: theatre
- Best production: dance
- Best production: visual art
- Best production: multidisciplinary
- Best production: music
- Young creative practitioner award
- Creative practitioner award
Winners for the above categories will be decided by a jury composed of external evaluators and Arts Council Malta representatives. You may also nominate works for any of the below four competitive categories; in this case, winners will be decided by both a jury and a public vote.
- Best work for young audiences
- Best project in the community
- Best international achievement
- Best creative and innovative enterprise.
Nominations are also being accepted for the below four non-competitive awards:
- Lifetime Achievement
- Honour for Cultural Promoters
- Honour for Artistic Legacy
- Ambassador of the Arts Award
The winners for these categories will be determined by an internal board.
